Reminiscence of the Peshtigo fire of 1871 by Josephine Ingalls Sawyer (Mrs. Alvah Littlefield Sawyer), plus another reminiscence of the fire by Elbridge West Merrill; an 1851 letter from her father, E. S. Ingalls in the California mine fields; an 1859 diary kept by Ingalls while crossing the Great Plains; and an 1861 letter to Ingalls from his father. Many of the items are mimeographed copies.
